Theo Baynton worked his way up the career ladder as a designer, art director, and director in animated television, first at Huhu Studios in Auckland, and then at Weta Workshop in Wellington. He has recently directed all 52 episodes of Weta’s latest television series, the Wotwots. In this clip from the 2010 EDTalks Symposium Theo shares his views about what is needed to be innovative and to succeed in the NZ creative industries.

John Drummond, Blair Professor of Music at the University of Otago, is both a composer and a music educator. His experience in providing the music for operas, and in directing opera productions, has given him particular insights into the creative process. His involvement in music education, locally, nationally and internationally, has convinced him of the importance of creativity in the lives of everyone, old and young. In this presentation he invites us to consider how we can open up our minds and find once more the creativity we had as kids, and how technology can stimulate our creative juices.

Paul Reynolds has long been well-known as an internet developer and media commentator - an authority on the digital and online world. Sadly Paul passed away in May. We were fortunate to hear him speak at the March 2010 symposium and we are pleased to be able to share his presentation here. A central provoking question in his talk was "where are the spaces for deep, reflective thinking?" and Paul provides a quick overview of many inspirational online spaces associated with galleries, libraries, archives and museums.
